OH YEAH...I changed my blog name

Next week I'm kicking off a series of posts focused on making improvements in my small handmade business. There will be entries on changes in my shop, blog, Twitter, business cards, Facebook fan page, as well as entries on blogging and Twitter communities and my local handmade and Etsy communitiy. I would love to get feedback on my plans and hear what changes you have in store for your business, blog, or whatever!

One important change I finally completed was buying my own domain and renaming this blog!

This blog used to be called Thirsty Babies. That was randomly selected from a quote from my favorite character on The Office, Dwight Schrute. According to Dwight, the Schrutes produce very thirsty babies.

Well, I decided I wanted my blog to be more obviously tied to my Etsy shop, thus OneInTheHandBlog. Should I bore you with the details of how the blogspot, URL and Twitter handle with my shopname are all taken by people who aren't even using them? Didn't think so . . .

Love that you did it! Was thinking of doing so, too, when I started my blog I never thought I'd start an Etsy shop...ever...but my blog reflects more of my private life...would you do it anyway??

Girl, you are on it! I talk about that in the upcoming posts. :)

My blog will continue with the same main feel: fun, music, social justice, Etsy, family, etc. But I'm going to be more thoughtful about what I post.

I don't think this name change will keep me from writing about non-shop stuff or that it will confuse anyone. I say if you want to, go for it. But my intent was to be part of an entire branding thing: shop, facebook, blog, Twitter - all tied and recognizable. Though I really like my SewSoDef and hesitate to change it.

Not sure I answered your question, ha! I think your shop name would be a cute blog name even if you don't post about Etsy. In that case, people who got there from yoir shop would get a personal glimpse at the artist's life.
